Hersonissos Old Town

Hersonissos Old Town is a large and historical village situated on a hill south of the port of Hersonissos and has excellent views of the port and the north coastline with picturesque inlets and coves.

Hersonissos Old Town includes 3 smaller villages: Analipsis, Aposselemis and Adijsara which lie on the coastal part of the village they all have sandy beaches, clean water and a host of beach hotels, guest houses and rooms to rent.

The heart of the community is Old Town Square which has well preserved buildings, picturesque squares, narrow alleys, flower adorned front-yards and restored oil-presses.  The churches are the oldest in the area and have fine examples of Byzantine art.

Traditional coffee houses and taverns surround the village square offering visitors the opportunity to taste the excellent local wine, raki and the Cretan cuisine.

Hersonissos Old Town and the smaller villages are an ideal holiday spot since along with its mild climate, it offers panoramic views of the coast line and local towns.
