What can I say...fab day...fab people...fantastic views! George really made the day with his skillful driving, information and jokes at all times. Learnt a lot about the history, geography and people of Crete at the same time as having the most fun ever! Thanks to the people on the trip, to George and to safari club for providing possibly my best day in Crete. Looking forward to doing it again soon!

Thank you to all the guys who made this the best part of our holiday!! We had such a fabulous day and our guide, Brian kept us all well informed as well as entertained! Definately a must do trip for a holiday in Crete.

I you do nothing else when visiting Crete take the Preveli safari - fantastic value for money.
The drivers are very knowledgable and it really is fun all the way - very impressive and far superior to any of the other excursions we have tried.

Our driver Simon was a fantastic and experienced driver and told us lots of information about the history of the island of Crete, we had lots of fun, and saw spectacular scenery, the bbq lunch was awesome, best tasting chips ever!! The climb to the caves of Zeus's birthplace nearly killed me and my legs hurt for about a week after, lol!! But was well worth it :) I would definitley recommend this day out to visitors to the island of Crete!! Thanks again Simon! :)

27th Sept 2008 yes Gary did make it feel special, not an everyday tour as we
believe it was for him. Lots of knowledge but with lots of humour. We felt very safe despite the nearness of the vertical drops. A GREAT DAY OUT!!

I was unaware that I would be going on this trip. I had travelled to Crete with my girlfriend Mandy to visit my dad for my birthday and he had booked both Mand and myself on the Safari. I can say that I had one of the best days out of my life and I will not forget it. Our driver Mike was simply awesome and a great character. He was very informative of the history of the area and conveyed it in a fun and interesting way. Let me tell you, if you are planning a trip to Crete, you MUST take this trip.. you will not regret it!!. Cheers guys, you are all superstars and we will see you next year!!

Fantastic day that both Mand and myself will never forget! Zeus cave was the highlight of the trip for me even though I was tired from the walk there.. not because it is hard but because I am SO unfit :) ! Mike, our driver was both skillfull in the control of the vehicle and in conveying the history of the area. Lunch was great with a fairly good choice and loads of free wine (always a good thing). If you are planning a trip to Crete you MUST take the Safari.. you will not regret it!! Cheers Mike, you are are a superstar and we will see you next year!!!

We went on the Preveli Safari on the 5th October and we had an excellent day out. There were two land rovers, two drivers and 16 guests and everyone had a great time (especially the drivers!!). The two drivers, Pavlos & George, were very entertaining and very knowledgeable. Their driving was daring but safe and professional. The views were breath-taking and scary at the same time.
Preveli Beach was beautiful but as we only had an hour there was not really enough time to fully explore it. We regret not taking a trip up the valley on a pedalo as this would have been a great way to see the valley (next time perhaps).
The entire day was great from start to finish. We recommend the Preveli Land Rover Safari to everyone.
Keep up the good work guys!!

me and my 8 years old twin boys had a great time.simon was our driver in the zeus land rover he was realey good with the boys and knew a lot of knowlege of the area which was realey interesting.the boys enjoyed going to the cave but i would have paid ten euros for an oxygen tank/mask and a bloody good leg massage after that climb but it was all well worth it .thanks guys for a cracking good time if in crete again i would do it again . many thanks from john/william and thomas lawton

Being as we were on our honeymoon we thought it best to leave the hotel room for at least one day of our stay & that day we chose to go on safari - WHAT A DAY!!!! Gary our driver (& fellow stokey) was great fun, very knowledgeable & excellent company. They are truly a great bunch of guys that will leave you with some good memories. We would definately recommend!
PS will let you know if the fertility myth on that tree works!!!!!
Oh and Steve.... leave Gary's wife alone & keep on taking those pills!!

My wife and I did the Jeff Adventure - on boking we were told this would be one of the best trips we would ever do - yea right! NO actually it was better than we expected we had a brill day out with our driver Simon and the other guys in the jeep.
There was an amazing experince in terms of scenery, goats, history, goats, culture, fun, goats, food, wine, birds of pray, meeting people, meeting goats, wonderfull fresh smells, history, walking up hills, stories (old and new), the odd bump, goats and just a great day out.
The trip was well worth every penny for its learning and entertainment - we both were left back to the hotel more excited than we were when we left in the morning.
I would highly recommend this trip and if you are only considering one day out - make it this - you wont regret it.

A fantastic day out on the 17th September. Our driver Rob was a great guy. Funny and interesting, he made everyone feel welcome and included. If he decides to change careers, a job in panto definitely awaits. The guys in our Land Rover were a great bunch and there was nothing about the day that we would have changed. The Griffin vultures, great goats, fantastic scenary, Zeus's cave and the 2000 year old tree at Krasi....what a day!
Thanks to everyone, we'll definitely do it again on our next trip to Crete.

We were on the Jeep Safari 24/09/08 and it was a brilliant day enjoyed by me and my boyfriend, Del. We kind of knew what to expect but the scenery and driving experience still took our breath away! Our driver, Gary, was hilarious, had us in stitches from beginning until the end. His knowledge of the Island was excellent rivaled only by his driving skills. Be sure to keep an eye out for Doreen and her Nike running shoes!!! Excellent day, would definitely recommend it for anybody who goes to Crete.

excellent day out with a characterful driver who in our opinion is the main man on the day as he has control.by introducing himself and getting everyone else to it breaks the ice so you then have a great day.very informative and amusing.

From the moment we got on the jeep our driver Geoff was making his presence felt with jokes and interesting facts about the island of Crete.these ranged from the cuisine to the customs and how the local wines are made not fogetting the raki (Who could) Our day was excellant made better with all the banter with the other drivers at the various stops on route

Myself and my girlfriend Debs did the Safari on 15/09/08 and i have to say it was by far the best day of our holiday and i am so glad that we decided to go on the trip. Our driver Gary was brilliant, incredibly informative and very funny. His knowledge of Crete and Greece was unbelieveable and he had loads of brilliant stories. The views were spectacular and i never thought i would see a goat up a tree!!
All in all this was a fantastic way to spend a day of our holiday. This trip is a must for anyone who goes to Crete. Thanks to Gary and all the drivers for such a great day and i am sure we will come back to do it again sometime.

Me and my girlfriend went on the safari 18/09/08 and we had a superb driver called Brian, now with me being over 6' he let me sit in the front for the bumpy parts which i though was considerate of him so tall people dont be put off!! We had never seen views like it absolutely amazing, the sky was so clear and the air was unbelievably clean. Brian knew so much information on the local area from villages & villagers to local herbs and wildlife. With 8 of us in the Land Rover Brian went straight to work on getting us to chat with each other which made for a nicer day. On the stops with the other drivers, you could tell all these guys were friends and considering that they do this day in day out they were having just as much fun as we were which only increased our enjoyment. Could not recommend this day more worth every penny. Thank you Brian and the rest of the drivers!

I think this has to be one of the best days of any holiday I have ever had. Brian our driver was bloody brilliant, both with his knowledge of Crete and his driving (and putting up with the missus screaming).
All I can say is that the day was excellent value for money and full of excitement and breath taking scenery.
I will certainly do it again when I return to Crete next year and will recommend it to any body who travels to Crete.
Keep on off roading!
PS negociate with the tourist board to allow you to drive up to the top of Zeus's cave the walk is a killer - after all a Land Rover is less poluting than a farty old donkey

Dear Sir ,Just like to say what a very enjoyable day we had on the 01/09/08 I understand that Simon has'nt been with you to long ,well you would have thought he had been with you for years with his knowledge of your Islands wildlife & customs, One thing which might help for passengers in back to hear better when going over rough terain is for some speakers to be installed which would help all your drivers having to shout at this time, once again thanks to the whole team including yourselves very professional Regards R. Hello I would like to say a big thanks to our driver Steve. He is so humourous. He made us laughing all the way. I enjoyed every bit of it, what I see, what I hear, just fantastic. I love the senery, the culture, the myths, the people, the stories, the herbs in the wild, the tiny flowers, the wild pears, the 4500 years old bones, the mysterious cave, the 2000 years old tree, all of it, and of course the dust!

A truly great day out with an amusing ,skillful and entertaining driver (Brian) and great company.
Brian broke the ice by getting us to introduce ourselves, this worked well and we all felt like friends from the off (Being somewhat shy this was a welcome approach and we did not feel intimidated)
We would strongly recommend that all holiday makers in Crete should set aside a day for this experience.We would love to repeat it. Thank you all at Safari club.

Went on the Jeep Safari last Friday 22nd August 08 with the Welsh Windbag Robert!! Had a fantastic time and very different to adventures done in the past! Robert was very knowledgable, but had a thing going with the GOATS?!!

My family and I had a brilliant day out. The drive was exciting, the views stunning and the food was great.
Our driver, Simon was just fab, and he really made the day with his vast knowledge of the area. He did not stop talking all day. We learnt so much about Crete.

We had the most fantastic day. Our driver Robert was brillant, he made the day so much fun and the kids thought he was great, with all his stories throughout the day. The scenery was amazing and the off road tracks where great, we couldn't have asked for a more fun filled day. The locals were so friendly and it was great to see the real Crete. When we returned to our hotel we told everyone about it and told them it was a must for their Crete experience. We took loads of photos and look back on them with a smile and a chuckle! This is a daytrip not to be missed, there is something for everyone. Thank you so much for a fantastic day.

We did this trip on the last day of our holiday and it was just a spectacular way to end. The views really are stunning and the wildlife beautiful (well maybe not the vultures). Our driver was Gary and he was very amusing, making the trip wholly more enjoyable with his personal stories about Greek life, and his knowledge of the island. All the drivers seemed to be having a laugh together and this aspect made the trip ever more enjoyable. The lunch was delicious, I would recommend Souvlaki (I think that is the spelling) to anyone as it was delightful! Thanks for a fantastic last day of our holiday!

My family and i had a brilliant day out on Monday 4th August. The drive was exciting, the views stunning and the food and wine was great. Our driver was Gary and he really made the day with his vast knowledge of the area and his jokes and great sense of humour. I would really recommend that any visitors to Crete take a Land Rover Great Adventure. Thanks Gary!

This is a great day out for any people of any age, you will see parts Crete you would otherwise miss, even in a hire car you would not find these tracks. The drivers make it a real fun day, Steve keeps it light hearted but at the same time feeds you with all sorts of information, making it really interesting. The food is good and the scenery is fantastic, but the drivers are really friendly and make a good trip even better. Don’t miss this trip.

My husband and I joined one of your off-road days in mid-June this year (2008) and I just wanted to say how much we enjoyed it. We got to see one of the main areas we wanted to - the Lassithi Plateau - and lots more besides, which we wouldn't otherwise have been able to visit. Thanks to Gary for his amusing and informative commentary and skilled driving - lunch was good and we got to take lots of photos en route - thank you all!

Everything about the day was great, the scenery, the food, the people we shared the jeep with and best of all Gary the driver who was informative and made our day fun, only downside was the fact he is a Stoke City supporter. We would recommend this trip to all ages, very good value for money.

hi just a few words to say wot a great day me and my family had on the safari definately the highlight of our holiday and would strongly recomend anyone to go on this trip our guide was gary and wot he doesnt know about crete is probebly not worth knowing about . this was our first time in crete and we would love to go back especialy to do the safari again the food was great also and the children loved feeding the goats.

Great day out, the driver really made it. Lots of stories, anecdotes and facts about everything and anything. Missed Doreen in the second village thou! Never seen so many goats in one place before. Especially never on jeeps before!

Before setting off I was really nervous about the heights we were going to climb but I'd promised my two boys that I would come along to enjoy the fun. When we joined our jeep Robert, our driver reasured me that we would indeed be going very high and be on cliff edges but would be very safe. Somehow I managed to put my trust in him! Travelling along the road everything seemed fine and I relaxed to enjoyed the wonderful views of vultures. However, when we hit the off-road I suddenly felt very uneasy and I may have made my feelings known! (appologies to my travelling companions for that!!). Robert , however, imediately took control of the situation and rearranged the seating so I was in the middle. I was then able to enjoy the scenery again and even some quick glances down at the views. I even managed to scale the steps up to the Zeus cave which was a spectacular sight. In the end I did have a wonderful experience and will remember it for the rest of my life. Many thanks to Robert for being so patient with me.

I read the review I sent the rating given is not correct I gave top marks for everything 5 for Scenery . Fun factory. Driver skills which were excelent . and food and drink which was all outstanding this is one safari that I would highly recomend to anyone from all age groups.

we had a really wonderfull time on this excursion compared to the other more expensive trips that we had organised. Gary was excellent his comentary was brilliant lots of history lots of jokes ather people in the jeep were introduced to one another making for a great day out,the food was great although it set to high a standard to follow we got a lot of great pictures thanks to gary not just his & hers,by the way how is Doreen.
PS Handbrake turns are a must on some of these sharper bends these keep the blood pumping. when I download my photos ~I will send them to you. thanks again for a great day out

the stop for food and drink were well timed as I think everyone was just about ready to eat the driver (I thought he was a wee bit scraggy all bone and no meat) by the way how's doreen

Just to say that the Safari was better than it was 4 years ago as it has more added ie Goat Valley which we thought was magic plus the view through Simons telescope at 'Junior' was an awesome view.
The driver was very friendly ( Simon) and very imformative as were the other drivers plus very considerate with my youngest daughter not being on top form. ( Simon at least she had her own bag)
Would recomend the adventure to anyone who wants to see the best parts of Crete.
Thanks again for great day and to Simon for a great drive.

If you like laughing (a lot), absolutely stunning scenery, good food and wine and learning loads about the country you're staying in this will be the best day of your holiday - it was for us.
Our driver (Gary) had us in stitches all day, but managed to pull off a good balance of joking and showing a genuine warmth and love for the country he's chosen to live in and the people who inhabit it.
Brilliant day - can't recommend it enough (but next time I expect to see goats in trees even if it means glue, smoke and mirrors!)

The Safari Club Crete offer a fabulous opportunity to understand the real Crete. The day is loaded with the Cretan culture, the mythology, flora and forna, You are taken to off road areas of Crete that most holiday makers would not see. The day is rich for all your senses including the great lunch and much laughter.
The drivers are so friendly, fun and very knowledgeable.
A big thank you to Geoff our driver and of course Hercules our Land Rover The kids say this was the best day of our holiday and I will endorse that, worth every Euro.....

Just last week, on the final day of our trip to Crete we got out in the Landys - I wish I had done it on the first day - the information, places and scenery were excellent. Our guide, Jeff, was very funny, informative and quite a good driver - except when he closed his eyes!
The day flew in, with great 'craic' and chat, stories and myths and homebrew with great grub. If you are thinking about it, do it early in your stay cos they tell you of places you can go, things to do and what you could get out of your holiday (we were told of a skydive off a cliff which can be arranged - ut it was our last day :(
ITS A MUST DO ACTIVITY

What an amazing day, from our brilliant, funny, informative driver Robert (can anyone explain why all the sheep ran away from him though?) to all the sights we saw and tales he told us about (didn't see any shepherds in pink leather mind you). Got back to the UK today and can honestly say it was the highlight of our holiday - well worth every penny.

Have just recently returned from Crete and have to say the highlight of my week was the safari trip. I was a little worried about going on my own but worried unnecessarly as everyone was really friendly. The secenary was amazing, the food was fab, the company was great, the stories very interesting, the jokes were terrible...sorry steve!!!. Basically can't find anything to fault and would recommend it to anyone. One piece of advice thou, don't wear anything white....it won't be on your return!!!

This was my first visit to Crete. When our holiday rep told us about the jeep Safari I was eager to book as I couldn't wait to see the rest of this beautiful Island.
There was 8 of us in the jeep and Gary was our tour guide.
The views were breath taking and the jokes from Gary just keep coming so spend most of the trip laughing.
The food was lovely and the hospitality was second to none.
My boyfriend and I would recommend it to anyone and will definitely be back again.

Has George had any more thoughts about joining the foreign legion yet? Our driver was pavlo and george was driving the other jeap. These two together were like having your own chauffeur driven comedians on safari with you. We were on the safari which took us from agia palagia to the west of the island, through the mountains to the south coast. What a fantastic day. Me and my girlfreind thought that this safari was the highliight of our holiday. Would reccomend anyone whom goes to crete for a holiday do this safari. Its a must do. Thank you to pavlo and george for making the safari a wonderfull experience. And george, stop eyeing up those women. The foreign legion is just across the med sea.

What a fantastic day, Rob picked us up just after 9am on Tuesday Morning 02/10/2007. We introduced ourselves to our Landy companions for the day and then we were off. Rob was superb very informative and Knowledgable his expertise on the dirt roads was brilliant he made sure we all had a great time. The scenery was spectacular the cave fantastic.... what more can we say except we will be back again in the very near future. Thanks Rob and thanks to Land Rover Great Adventure, Safari Club. 10 stars.

When we booked the Jeep Safari on the 30th September Carol & I were a little apprehensive as to what the day would bring....we needn't have worried when Rob picked us up outside our hotel In Malia he soon put us at ease, he introduced himself told us a bit about him and how the day would unfold, he got all the passengers to introduce themselves and we soon relaxed in each others company. From the moment we were on the move Rob kept up his commentry he was extremely Knowledgable and kept his audiance captivated with ancient history and mythology relating to our trip...His experiance on the mountain roads was 1st class and as a profesional driver myself I was suitably impressed in his handling of the Landy!!
This was by far the best part of our holiday to Crete and one that we would certainly enjoy again when we visit next year with our family all being well.
Rob we hope to see you then and wish you and your family and all the other drivers well.

The name my wife kept using for our recent Safari with you. Our day began when Robert pulled up outside our hotel in Stalis. Our party of 8 (me, my wife Lee, and daughters Kirsten and Megan, and my brother in law John, wife Jaqui and sons Tom and Chris) had the landrover to ourselves. Simply put, Robert then ensured we enjoyed the best experience we have ever had on holiday - we are forever thankfully for his fun, informative and friendly approach to the safari. I would like to see his photo on your website as i would consider him to be a key member of your safari family. Fantastic day out. Robert was our guide and driver for the day. He gave excellent commentary and was humerous with it. Please give him an extra ten points for your competion. I was a little apprehensive when we booked this trip but am soooo glad we did 'cause it really was the best day of our holiday. Rob, was a fantastic driver and guide, giving us loads of interesting facts and stories on the way. History, geography, mythology, ornithology, archaeology, even cookery - he seemed to know it all! And such a comedian! Full of humour and cheesey jokes. My face ached at the end of the day from laughing so much!
A Fantastic way to see the island, the children loved it and I would definitely recommend it to anyone. Thanks again, Rob.

Ok first things first the three friends I traveled and I would like to give a huge Welsh SHW MAE/HELLO and DIOLCH/THANK YOU to Gary for making our safari! Not only was he a huge source of interesting info on Crete but he was also quite the comedian and brightened up an otherwise rather awkward atmosphere with the silent family who joined us.
An incredible day was had by all even the more skeptical of my group who weren't sure what to expect... but in my opinion when there's Land Rovers involved where can you go wrong!?

My boyfriend Paul and I were really looking forward to our off-road jeep trip and we were not let down. From the moment we got in the 4x4 and met Harry our driver, we knew it was gonna be a great day. Also it was nice to meet the other people joining us. Lee and Maria, newly weds Nick and his wife and Kevin and his girlfriend from Ireland. The views were spectacular, the weather was red hot and my back was sweaty as hell,but I didn't care it was brilliant! Great to have plenty of stops for photo's and drinks. Also nice to try the cool water from the spring, very refreshing. Harry was comical, keeping us laughing all the way as well as Nick who couldn't get enough Raki at the old olive refinary. There was lots of food to choose from at lunch time when we stopped in Agios Konstantinos. I also tried the wine but too be fair I wish I hadn't so stuck to water :-) Then it was on to the cave of Zeus to burn them calories off. A hike up the hill and then down all them steps into the cave itself, fantastic! Make sure you take a light weight blouse or shirt with you though, it gets really cold down there, I'm glad I did. Then we were off again, this time to the village of Krassi to see the 2,000 year old tree. Steve one of the other drivers also has a funny tale about how people used to wash their clothes many years ago. Then unfortunatley the day came to an end and we were back off to our hotel. We really really really had a great time that day with everything that we did, but the drivers made it even better for us. Full of enthusiasm and they trully seemed to love their jobs, well who wouldn't! Paul and I cant stress enough if you ever go to Crete for a holiday do go on this top Safari Club adventure, you dont want to miss it!

The best jeep safari we have been on. Gary our tour driver was excellent very informative and very funny as well. He went out of his way to make the whole day exciting. Starting at the Olive Oil Musuem in Agios Nikolaos telling us how the olive oil was made and Raki with tasters. The drive through the mountains was outstanding but The Lassithi Plateau is something you can not imagine it is so spectactular. We enjoyed the meal & the wine. We even saw a goat in a tree not an uncommon site we were told, so if you go and we highly recommend you do, look out for the goats in the trees.

We visited Crete on June 2007 and went on the Lassithi route. Garry was our guide and the information he passed on was great, I ended up knowing more about Crete than any other holiday maker that we met. Money well spent, the company was great and the laughs were plentyful. The best meal ever and we just loved the scenery. We will definetly be back. One thing Garry in all the merryment we didn'd get a group photo round that fabulous tree so if any one was there on Friday 8 June we would love a copy. One memorable thing was that image of the goat up that tree.

Great way to spend one of your holiday's in Crete. Just returned from a weekk in crete where we can honestly say the best part of it was our day out with safari club crete, .

We went on the jeep safari at the end of April. It was the best day out of our holiday. Gary, our driver, was excellent. He was funny, informative and very knowledgeable. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The stop for lunch was great, broke the day up nicely and it was unlimited wine - which was good because we were hungover!! Couldn't fault the whole day and would love to do it again!!
